Have Your Say on Proposed Active Travel Improvements

Residents are being encouraged to share their views on proposed Active Travel improvements designed to improve road safety and make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle across Brackley as part of a public consultation being run by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC). The consultation focuses on three proposed schemes:
Scheme 1 - Manor Road / Waynflete Avenue
Manor Road is a busy route serving schools, nurseries, homes and businesses. WNC says narrow footways and high traffic volumes can make walking and cycling difficult, and the proposed improvements aim to create safer and more accessible routes for people walking, wheeling and cycling.
Scheme 2 - High Street / Northampton Road
This route provides an important gateway into Brackley, linking residential areas with schools, local facilities and the town centre. WNC's proposals seek to improve connections and facilities for people travelling on foot, by wheelchair or by bicycle.
Scheme 3 - Halse Road
Halse Road connects Manor Road and High Street. While no specific proposals are currently being put forward, WNC is seeking feedback from residents on how the route could be improved in the future to better support active travel.
Residents can provide feedback by completing WNC's online survey. There is no requirement to answer every question. Alternatively, you can attend one of two drop-in sessions to speak with members of the project team, view the proposals and ask questions.
Once the consultation closes, WNC will review all feedback received and publish a report summarising the responses and how comments have influenced the next stages of the project.
Brackley Town Council encourages residents, businesses and community groups to take part in the consultation. The proposed schemes could have a significant impact on how people move around Brackley in the future, and local feedback will help ensure WNC understands the views of those who live, work and travel in the town.
The consultation is now open, and will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 11 October 2026.
