Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing thousands of volunteers and organisations together each September to celebrate the stories, places and traditions that make our communities unique.

The festival gives you the chance to discover hidden heritage, explore local history and try something new, with all events free to attend. This year’s festival runs from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 September 2026, with the theme ‘Everyday Histories’.

Whether you’re a lifelong Brackley resident or simply interested in the town’s past, these events offer a great opportunity to discover more about our local history and heritage. For full details, including venues, times and booking information, visit the Heritage Open Days website.
